About

Scaled Family picHi!

My name is Libby Terrell and I would love to take a minute and share a little about who I am and why I’m blogging.

I am a child of God who has been blessed with a wonderful and handsome husband, a beautiful daughter, and a little one on the way. My husband Joel and I will be married five years this September. He is my best friend and I love doing life with him. Together we made a pretty cute kid. Emma was born November of last year. She is such a delight and always has us laughing and amazed that she really is ours. We have another little bean on the way due sometime in February!

I wish I could say that I grew up with great money spending habits. I can say that I did learn to be frugal and make money stretch growing up and fortunately that has stuck with me. I managed to stay out of debt until my third year in college when I transferred to a University and was offered, yes, a credit card. At first I promptly paid that sucker off every month but (pause for dramatic effect) my car started breaking down. It got to the point that my car was in the shop more than I was driving it. And every bill was to the tune of at least $200. Finally one rainy day I had had the last straw. I was driving to work and the windshield wiper on the driver’s side up and quit. I decided then and there it was time for a ‘new’ car which came with a new loan. I now had school debt, car debt and card debt. Jump ahead a year and you will find me preparing for a wedding. Add on wedding debt and my new husband’s debt and, well, you get the picture. Sadly it would be another two and half years before we seriously started dumping debt. We were treading water and couldn’t take it anymore. We weren’t enjoying life. The worst part was that we had nothing to show for it. We weren’t the types to go on spending sprees. No, our debt was on car repairs and groceries, gas and heating bills. So we got hooked on Dave Ramsey and his debt snowball and haven’t looked back. We aren’t debt free yet but we have paid off nearly $15,000 in just two plus years and let me tell you it feels great.

My goal for this blog is to learn and share with you how to be good stewards of what God has given us. Whether it is finances, keeping your home, or caring for the natural resource God beautifully created for us, God has charged us with the task of using them wisely. My hope is to inspire and encourage others to do the same.
