Giving Back for Christmas
I am so proud of myself! I always have great ambitions of gift giving around the holidays. But all my good intentions have never come to fruition until today. I was bound and determined to follow through this year and I did. I filled a shoe box full of goodies, wrapped the box, filled the envelop with the the proper amount for shipping and hooray, mission complete! It felt sooo good.
What did I fill it with you ask? Well let me me recap. I put in several pencils and a couple of sticker books I had collected after Easter and Valentines Day for pennies, a bracelet I ordered for $1 quite a while back, 4 johnson & Johnson buddy soup bars that I got for free with q’s several months ago, a big bag of mini tootsie pops, a pack of bic pens for $.25, a deck of cards still wrapped that I had laying around (I have no idea where they came from), a stack of craft paper (I got on clearance years ago and never really used), a mini tape dispensor,a tooth brush and tooth paste, travel deoderant, a set of sweaky ball toys I got in the dollar for $.25 on 75% clearance, and a couple of new sticky pads I had laying around. I felt a little bad that I didn’t have more toys but frankly I forgot to pick some up yesterday when I was out and I was too tired by the time I got home to go back out. I had most of the stuff already. This is why I collect items on clearance after holidays and seasons so that I always have something on hand for the last minute Unexpected.
I will definately be doing this again next year and will be much better prepared. My next goal is to make a trip to the Open Door Mission to drop some stuff off. I am inspired and encouraged. What a beautiful feeling it is to give back!
How are you giving back this season?
